Objectives:

This playground will be based on Bridge To Terabithia, the novel.It aims to help terminally ill children to be exposed to things that they can’t experience before they leave us.

Comments on playground :

This playground is too “metal” and it doesn’t show the flavour of Bridge To Terabithia. Moreover, the playground doesn’t help the children as it made up of metal and it may hurt them in the process of playing.

Comment on Playground :

The playground itself is too simple and it does not bring out Bridge To Terabithia’s feeling.

The metal slide may get hot during sunny days and the kids might develop complications to their sickness.

About our playground:

The purpose of making this playground is to help terminally ill children to be exposed to things that they cannot experience before they leave this world. A little details of each playground will be taken and be used to make our playground. We will be making use of them and adding some creativity of our own to make the playground too.
Materials for our playground model:

(a) Recycled cans to build the tunnels

(b) Some ice-cream sticks to build the rooftop

(c) Superglue to stick the ice-creams sticks together tightly

(d) A bridge to connect our 2 ‘islands’

(e) A Styrofoam board for our whole piece of land

Instructions on building our playground model:
Firstly, we will make use of the superglue to stick some ice-cream sticks to build 2 castles and a tree house for 1 castle each. The two castle are connected by a bridge.

Ice cream sticks are everything.After everything is completed, we will place the whole playground model onto the Styrofoam board.

Description of Playground -

The playground consists of 2 towers.

The 2 towers are connected by a bridge.

Each tower represents the characters from Bridge To Terabithia, Jess and Leslie.

The first tower, Jessyria, named after Jess, has a room inside for those who get tired after playing for awhile. This shows a characteristics of Jess, strong on the outside, soft inside. No matter how strong Jess is, there will still be a time when he needs to rest.

The second tower, Leslion, named after Leslie, has all kinds of playground tools inside it. It has a slide. This shows one part of Leslie, fun and enthusiastic. Leslion shows the fun side of Leslie, which she always show in the movie and novel. There’s also and first aid kit inside, this is to show that, Leslie gets hurt too, in the process of playing. Just like in the movie, where she drown because the rope snapped.
