FEEDBACK ON THE PLAYGROUNDS IN TAMPINES
I am a student in Pasir Ris Secondary School the Tampines area is clean and the air very fresh and I am proud to grow up in the Tampines area but I have come to notice that the playgrounds in this area are in dire state. The plastic are vandalized and there are graffiti on the walls of the playground this has aroused my concern on the words written on the walls, namely insults, the young might learn these vulgarities.
To solve this problem, I and my friends have done our research and came up with a design of a playground that would help the children with terminal illness. The playground is based on the story Bridge to Terabithia and we had incorporated brilliant ideas of the layout of the playground. This playground will allow children will terminal illness feel that they are free from their disability allowing them to play like normal children. This will not only benefit the children but the adults as well. They can be free of the worry of the safety of their children as it is ensured by the play ground safety features and a instructor maybe positioned there to ensure first aid is administered if it is needed. We hope you would consider making our dream playground a reality the play ground will be safer, more colorful, cleaner and more efficient.

How To Improve Playgrounds In Tampines?
I am a student from Pasir Ris Secondary school and I am writing this letter to you concerning some suggestions and recommendations on the way the surrounding playgrounds in the Tampines GRC could be better redesigned.
The project was to design a playground for an allocated group of special needs children. I my research it is found that most playgrounds are almost constantly similar in appearance and that there are no special attributes of enhancement that would allow them to be able to reach out to the special needs children of Singapore. It is my opinion that playgrounds should not only be fun, engaging and as well as safe but also that they should be more needs-sensitive towards children with emotionally and/or physical deficiencies.
There are many to the playground additions that would not only allow for playgrounds to be more emotionally and physiologically centered. For example there could be more different as well as original musical instruments attached to the playgrounds interior and exterior. Also less used playground structures such as merry-go-round and a flying fox or even a small corner filled with plastic balls for the children and a long slide that is in a spiral going around the playground.
Children will definitely play in safe playgrounds as parents will also encourage it rather that playing playgrounds that are viewed as any other or uninteresting and inspiring to children while still having fun while no having many troubles.

IMPROVEMENTS FOR PLAYGROUND IN TAMPINES
I am a student from Pasir Ris Secondary school. The purpose of writing is to introduce new designs for the playgrounds in the Tampines area. As our Literature SA1, we had to come up with a playground that suit the needs of special children.
In our groups, we were assigned to cater the special needs for children. For terminally ill-ed children, spastic children and such. My group was assigned to do, based on children who are terminally ill-ed. Based on our research, we have found out that children who fall in that category, need special attention as they feel dejected each time their condition worsens. Also, they should spend their last days happily and leave with no regrets.
Playgrounds in Tampines are a common sight. But those with charisma and catering to the special needs that they need are hard to find.
In my group’s design, we come up with a design.
The 1st floor of the playground consists of a bench, a hammock. This allows the children to sleep or rest in. The second floor consists of tables and chair to allow children to do their work there. The door is the second floor is not a door but a slide, they can slide down after they finish their work. Also, there is a bridge to connect the other part of the playground.
The other part consists of children games.
I appeal to you that you take a look into this proposal and do those unfortunate a favour. Together we can help make a difference to those kids.

FEEDBACK ABOUT THE PLAYGROUNDS IN TAMPINES
I am Koh Kang Wei from Pasir Ris Secondary School. The purpose of writing this letter to you is to give you some suggestions on how to improve the current playgrounds that are found in the Tampines areas.
Firstly, about the advantages of the current playgrounds in Tampines, the places where they are currently located are very suitable for the young children. The playgrounds are near void decks and are very convenient for the young children as they do not have to walk a distance in order to go to the playground. Instead, the playground is just a stone’s throw away. And by having a playground near the void decks, their parents will be more relieved for their children safety when they go to the playground nearby.
Our project on creating a playground is aimed for children with terminal illness. These children with terminal illness may fear going to the playground as they may be afraid of spreading it to the other innocent children. So my group and I have come to a decision of creating this playground.
We intend to use safe materials to make this playground so that none of the children who go to that playground will be injured. The materials that we planned to use are rubber, plastic and metal. We designed the playground such that the floor around the playground is made of rubber so that if they fall down, they will not be hurt. Plastic and metal will be used for the building of the playground because they are safe materials which will not harm the children in any ways. I would also like to recommend that we should show more concern to this type of special people by putting more games for them and we should make them feel that although they are handicapped in a certain way, they still can enjoy what others are enjoying.
Finally, we hope that you will make use of this idea when you are planning to build a playground in future. When building a playground, we should think more for the special people. Thank you.

Ice cream sticks that replace plastic bottles which are not biodegradable.
Wood would also be our ideal material for the actual playground as after rainfall, water will still be on the playground and restricts the children from playing as it is wet. The wood will absorb the water and not hinder the children when they play in the playground.

Eco-friendly features about my group’s 3D-model:
We made used of ice cream sticks, Styrofoam board and plasticine.
Remarks (e.g. materials to be used, relevant research with links, photograph links etc):
We did some research of the different playground pictures using Google and Yahoo. The materials that we used are Styrofoam board, superglue, paints, brown plasticine and ice-cream sticks which were mostly coloured ones.
Playground designs/concepts that are linked to the novel and explanation of how the designs/concepts are linked to the novel:
1) We used ice-creams sticks to make the walls of the two castles because the ice-creams sticks resemble the woods that were used in the novel for making their secret island.
2) We painted the Styrofoam board green in colour because as said in the novel, Jesse and Leslie’s tree house was on a patch of green grass.
3) There was also a bridge placed between the two castles for those children to cross over to the other side if they wanted to.
4) We added some tables and chairs in one of the castles because in the novel, there was some furniture in the tree house too.
Playground designs/concepts that meet the special needs of the children and explanation of how the designs meet the special needs of the children:
The facilities that we have in the playground are not dangerous to the terminally-illed children. We also included tables and chairs in one of the castles and they are for the children to do their own drawings or play with the toys provided. We painted the castles with a variety of colours because we are thinking of adding some colours to their life before they leave the world. We placed a staircase in one of the castles for children to climb up to the second level in order to get across to the next castle.
